HOPALONG CASSIDY MOVIES

William Boyd had a career in early silent movies, becoming a matinee idol.  After the "talkies" arrived, his career limped along until 1935, when he was offered the role of "Hop-A-Long" Cassidy, so named because of a limp from an earlier bullet wound.  He changed the Clarence Mulford character to a good guy who didn't drink, smoke, or kiss the girls.
He went on to make 66 of the Hopalong Cassidy movies before taking the character to radio & television.
